Meet Dr. Sam S. Bae

Dr. Bae is a fellowship trained oral, maxillofacial, and craniofacial surgeon. He grew up in Toronto, Canada where he received his bachelor’s degree from the University of Toronto. Following undergraduate studies, he moved to the states and earned his dental degree at New York University, graduating at the top of his class as Valedictorian. He continued his education at the University of Michigan in Ann Arbor where he obtained his medical degree and two-year certificate in general surgery. He completed his six-year surgical training at the Michigan Medicine Hospital and C.S. Mott Children’s Hospital in the field of oral and maxillofacial surgery, serving as the chief resident in his final year and receiving an additional certificate in microsurgery technique. Following residency, he completed a rigorous fellowship training in orthognathic, cleft, and craniofacial surgery at the El Paso Children’s Hospital in Texas. He also served as a clinical instructor at the University Medical Center training surgery residents in advanced craniomaxillofacial trauma and volunteered in Juarez, Mexico treating children with cleft and craniofacial deformities.

In addition to practicing full scope of oral and maxillofacial surgery, Dr. Bae’s clinical interests include orthognathic surgery, craniofacial trauma, cleft lip and palate, craniomaxillofacial disorders, facial reconstruction, pediatric obstructive sleep apnea, and benign neoplasms of the craniomaxillofacial structures.

Dr. Bae is thrilled to call Portland his home. He is committed to serving his patients and advancing the field of craniomaxillofacial surgery through teaching and research. Outside of professional work, he enjoys traveling, staying active, and spending time with his wife, Jimmie, and their two children. He is fluent in English and Korean.
